Peter Adsett & Gordon Walters
27.06 - 26.07

This selection of works from the collections of STARKWHITE and PAULNACHE galleries brings together two New Zealand painters, separated by more than a generation, who nevertheless shared a fervent commitment to abstraction. Throughout his career, Peter Adsett has admired the art of his precursor, and has occasionally paid homage to him in his own painting practice. One can discover points of mutual interest in the magnetic pull of black and white + a single colour, and even moments of conversation, such as when Adsett introduced the concept of transparency in his abstraction. Looking at the work of this pair today, audiences can appreciate abstraction as an enduring, theoretical and critical re-examination of the principles of painting.
Join us for a talk by Peter Adsett at 11am Saturday 28 June.
